Although TBLS had a functional web application, it was built upon a proprietary technology and imposed severe limits when finding skilled workers able to maintain and extend the solution. Content and functionality updates required custom programming by engineers no longer accessible to TBLS.
Guidelight preserved the user interface and database definition from the existing system. Narrowing the scope facilitated rapid modification to the content management layer and business logic and minimized re-testing known functionality.
Guidelight evaluated and selected DotNetNuke as the content management system. The numerous benefits included the built in security model and content publishing by non-technical personnel.
Guidelight was able to develop the new system on schedule with only minor changes to the user interface and data-access layers. The system has already shown the benefits of the new architecture by allowing some system usability enhancements with minimal effort.
