Have you considered a CMS?

In my last blog, I discussed adopting an always beta approach for your website, in which every web page is subject to constant evaluation and change for the better. Always beta has become a contemporary best practice as static websites continue to be less and less effective.

Unfortunately, not every company has highly-trained staff available to make these constant web updates. If this is the case for your company, you may consider implementing a Content Management System.

A CMS allows even non-technical users to easily publish, manage, and organize website information through a web browser. Many content management systems can also be customized to meet your organization's specific needs with features and functions such as: ecommerce, news feeds, event calendars, photo galleries, blogs, forums, social networking, SEO, and more.

Keep in mind that most CMS implementations will require some development help on the front-end, but the system will keep you from being at the mercy of your web vendor every time you want to edit content, add an announcement, upload a file, etc.
