As a relatively new Firefox user, I have only recently discovered the world of Firefox add-ons. As I started to explore the multitude of available add-ons, I thought it would be interesting to ask other Guidelight team members which add-ons/plugins are their favorite. The following items made our list:
Web User Tools
- AdBlock Plus – Blocks unwanted internet ads
- Bookmark Duplicate Detector – Detects duplicate bookmarks saved in browser
- Flashblock – Blocks Flash content from loading in browser
- Flip4Mac - Allows Mac users to import, export, and play Windows Media files
- PDFforge – Converts documents into Portable Document Format (PDF)
- Quicktime – Allows users to play, interact with, or view video, audio, VR, and graphics files
- ScribeFire – Blog editing tool
- Shockwave - Displays content created by Adobe Director, such as 3D games and entertainment
- WOT (Web of Trust) – Protects users from suspicious or dangerous websites
- Zotero – Allows users to collect, manage, and cite research resources
Webmaster & Web Development Tools
- Elasticfox – Account management tool for Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud
- Firebug – Development tools to edit, debug, and monitor CSS, HTML, and JavaScript
- Rank Checker – Checks rankings on Google, Yahoo! Search, and Bing
- S3Fox – Allows users to organize, manage, and store files on Amazon S3
- Selenium IDE – Automated testing tool for web applications
- Web Developer Toolbar – Adds menu and toolbar with various development tools
- YSlow – Analyzes why websites are slow and suggests improvements
