Bing Travel: Price Predictor

Over the past few months, there has been a lot of buzz around search with the introduction of new engines like Wolfram Alpha, real-time Twitter Search, the launch of Bing, and now the partnership between Microsoft and Yahoo! In all honesty, I didn't feel like these factors would change the way I personally search online. Yes, I have begun using Twitter Search to monitor real-time conversations, but as a creature of habit, Google has always been my go-to search engine.

I began seeing Bing ads on TV a while back, and at first I thought that the TV campaign would not impact search habits at all. Then last week one of the ads actually caught my attention. It was an ad for the Bing Travel: Price Predictor. For the first time, I saw value rather than just preference. The Price Predictor essentially predicts trends in flight prices to help you plan a trip. Despite my skepticism in the ongoing search engine war, and specifically in the Microsoft ad campaign, this single feature has persuaded me to give Bing a shot. (Of course the modern music and flashy visuals didn't hurt either.)

I am not a Bing convert yet, but I am willing to check it out to see what all the fuss is about. Does this mean that search is really changing?
